Short version: FreshKeep does not collect, store, or share any personal data. Everything stays on your device.
1. Information We Collect
FreshKeep does not collect any personal information. The app operates entirely on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework for local storage.
The following data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party:
- Product names, brands, categories, and expiry dates you enter
- Shopping list items
- App settings and preferences
2. Camera Usage
FreshKeep requests access to your camera solely for scanning product barcodes. The camera feed is processed locally on your device to read the barcode. No images or video are stored or transmitted.
3. Notifications
If you grant permission, FreshKeep sends local push notifications to remind you about upcoming expiry dates. These notifications are scheduled entirely on your device and do not involve any external server.
4. Third-Party Services
FreshKeep uses the Open Food Facts API (openfoodfacts.org) to look up product information when you scan a barcode. When a barcode lookup is performed, the barcode number is sent to the Open Food Facts public API. No personal information is included in this request. Open Food Facts is an open-source, non-profit project. You can review their privacy policy at openfoodfacts.org.
We do not use any analytics, advertising, or crash reporting SDKs.
5. Data Storage and Security
All app data is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework. Your data is protected by your device's built-in security (Face ID, Touch ID, passcode). We have no access to your data.
6. iCloud
FreshKeep does not currently sync data via iCloud. All data remains on the device where you use the app.
7. Children's Privacy
FreshKeep does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app contains no ads or in-app purchases that could target minors.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we make any changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
