Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add a product?
Tap the + button in the top right corner of the main screen. You can enter the product name manually, select a category, and set the expiry date. You can also scan a barcode to auto-fill product details.
How does barcode scanning work?
Tap the barcode scanner icon when adding a product. Point your camera at the product barcode. FreshKeep will look up the product in our local Turkish product database first, then in the Open Food Facts global database. If found, the name, brand and category will be filled in automatically.
Why am I not receiving notifications?
Make sure you have granted notification permission to FreshKeep. Go to Settings → Notifications → FreshKeep and enable notifications. Notifications are sent at 9:00 AM, 2 days before expiry, 1 day before, and on the day of expiry.
How do I mark a product as used?
Swipe right on any product in the list and tap "Used". If the product has a quantity greater than 1, the quantity will decrease by 1. When the last unit is used, the product moves to the "Used Items" section.
How does the shopping list work?
Items are added to your shopping list automatically when: (1) a product expires, or (2) you use the last unit of a product. You can also add items manually. When you buy something, tap the item to set an expiry date and add it directly to your fridge.
Can I re-add a product from the "Used Items" section?
Yes! In the Used Items section at the bottom of the list, tap Re-add next to any item. You'll be asked to confirm the new expiry date before it's added back to your active products.
Can I edit a product after adding it?
Yes. Tap on any product in the list to open the edit screen where you can change the name, brand, category, expiry date, quantity, and price.
Is my data backed up?
FreshKeep stores all data locally on your device. If you have iPhone backup enabled (iCloud or iTunes), your FreshKeep data will be included in that backup. Deleting the app will delete all data.
What does the Statistics screen show?
The Statistics screen (bar chart icon in the top left) shows how many products are active, used, and expired. It also estimates how much money you've saved by using products before they expired.
How do I delete a product?
Swipe left on any product and tap Delete. For used items in the Used Items section, swipe left and tap Remove.
